Stop! and Think! Film Series: The Released

August 22, 2017
Thursday, November 16, 2017 - 5:30pm
Psychology Building, Rm 10
Dark empty movie theater

Presented by Dr. Lisa Cravens-Brown
Pizza and snacks will be provided.

This 90-minute event will explore the lives of mentally ill parolees and the perils of the system for such individuals. In addition to discussion of the intersection of the mental health and penal system, we will watch some clips and a Frontline episode called The Released. Last year, we watched and discussed The New Asylums, which highlighted mental illness in prison – this follow up film highlights what happens when mentally ill prisoners are released from prison. Whether you were present last year or not, this event is sure to produce a lot of thinking on your part & fits nicely with this year’s Buckeye Book, Just Mercy.
